The Bob Marshall Wilderness does not allow motorized or mechanical equipment within Wilderness boundaries so we take transportation back to its original form. Come see how the art of mule packing has become our way of life.

FAQ

Common Questions We Get About Our Trips

  • What type of accommodations can I expect at Montana Wilderness Lodge?

Our lodge offers comfortable, rustic cabins equipped with modern amenities including private bathrooms, hot showers, and propane heating and lighting. While maintaining their historic charm, all accommodations have been recently renovated to ensure a comfortable wilderness stay. Guests also enjoy hearty, home-cooked meals served family-style in our main lodge.

  • How physically demanding are your hunting and fishing trips?

The level of physical activity varies by trip type. Our elk and mule deer hunts in remote wilderness areas require good physical conditioning and comfort with horseback riding. Fishing trips can be customized to various activity levels, from relaxing float trips to more adventurous backcountry expeditions. We recommend discussing your physical capabilities with our team when booking to ensure we match you with the most suitable adventure.

  • What's the best way to get to the lodge, and what transportation options are available?

While the lodge is accessible by a 2-hour drive, we recommend the convenient 20-minute scenic flight through Red Eagle Aviation from Glacier International Airport to Spotted Bear Airstrip, where our shuttle service will meet you. Click here for more details on shuttle flight. If driving to the lodge, click here for detailed instructions. For wilderness pack trips, all necessary transportation into the backcountry is provided by our experienced guides and pack string.
