Directions
The Wilderness Lodge is located in the Spotted Bear Ranger District, at the south end of the Hungry Horse Reservoir. There are two different routes that you can take to get to the Wilderness Lodge. You can travel up the East Side of the Hungry Horse Reservoir or the West Side of the Hungry Horse Reservoir. If you are wanting more of a scenic route, you may choose the West Side, however, keep in mind this route has a bit more curves in it. The East Side tends to be a little bit faster - but only by about 20 minutes.
WEST SIDE Hungry Horse Reservoir Road
Turn off of US Highway 2 onto West Side Road Hungry Horse, MT 59919. You will follow this road for about 4 miles then will reach the Hungry Horse Dam. Continue down this road until you reach the 55-mile mark. On the right-hand side of the road there will be a junction with road signs labeling "Wilderness Lodge". Take that right hand turn for about a quarter of a mile and you will see the Wilderness Lodge on your right.
EAST SIDE Hungry Horse Reservoir Road
Turn off of US Highway 2 to Martin City, MT. Head down Central Ave, passing the South Fork Saloon on your left. Continue straight down this road and keep driving as it turns to gravel. Stay on this road until you come to the only junction, just past mile marker 51. Take a right turn at this junction, the road will take you to a bridge across the South Fork of the Flathead River. You will take your first left after the bridge. Continue down this road for about a quarter of a mile and you will see the Wilderness Lodge on your right.
